Cultivate Your Confidence So You Can Lead with Impact

How you step into your work and passions as a leader, or a woman aspiring to leadership, is predicated on your confidence level. Your confidence quotient will inform how you lead because it shapes your interactions with others and influences how you perceive yourself as a leader.

A confident woman:

  • Is self-assured and believes in herself and her abilities.

  • Has a keen sense of self-worth and is not easily swayed by others' opinions or judgments.

  • Is comfortable with her level of competence in her field of expertise and continually strives to improve her skills, stay updated with industry trends, and has a deep knowledge base.

  • Is an effective communicator. She can articulate her ideas, opinions, and expectations clearly and assertively and listens actively.

  • Is comfortable expressing her needs, setting boundaries, and advocating for herself.

  • Has a growth mindset, views failures as learning opportunities, and perseveres through obstacles with determination and grace because she believes in her ability to overcome them. She approaches challenges with optimism and focuses on solutions rather than dwelling on problems.

If you want to be a woman of influence, you've got to be confident.  If you're going to make an impact or have influence, confidence is everything. It is one of your superpowers.

As women, it's our confidence that gets us a seat at the table. It's our confidence that garners us respect and popularity. It's our confidence that sways people and commands their attention.  Some researchers argue that confidence matters even more than competence!

As a confident woman, you are positioned to make a transformative impact.

But how confident are you really? Do you even know? And even if you feel you’re fairly confident, perhaps there are areas where you need to bolster your confidence.

One of my biggest breakthroughs with Natalie was understanding that I don't have to wait for permission to embody my inherent strengths. That awareness gave me newfound confidence. Now I know who I am, and nobody can give me permission to be me. Now I own my strengths, my voice, and I am empowered to ask for what I want. My self-talk is so much more emboldened. Natalie also helped me reconnect to my purpose and to know it’s a calling from God. I want to be a trailblazer—that’s who I am, who I’ve always been.”

Confident Black Woman

Comprehensive leadership development must stand on confidence. Because a lack of confidence can derail your career success. A lack of confidence weakens and diminishes your impact.

Most of us have areas where we feel insecure, but confidence stems from being our own best champions, believing in our worth and value as a woman, and knowing what we bring to our role.

At the heart of imposter syndrome is a lack of confidence and so many women struggle with this, especially women of color.

If you struggle with your confidence, take my Confidence Check Quiz—it’s free and just responding to the 17 questions and getting your score will give you great insights about how much time and effort you need to devote to building up your confidence.

Plus, it’s fun too, so for the high achievers reading this, it can be your excuse to take a mini work break (wink emoji).

“Natalie customizes her coaching to you, based on where you might be at in your unveiling journey. She works with you to show how there is so much there, (anchored in her work with your strengths) and in doing so, that purpose, that path, that course of action is clarified. And with that clarity, you gain the confidence to move forward.”
